Key West Ragnar

After the new year I ran my first Ragnar, the Key West Ragnar! It was honestly so much FUN! Way back in April a group of my friends here in Florida were trying to get a team together to run the ragnar. I knew Jenni had run a couple so I called her to see if she thought I should do it. She immediately told me I totally should, and wouldn't regret it! She also said she would totally do it if she had the opportunity! Well I ended up committing to it and found out our team needed one more runner. I mentioned this to Jenni, thinking it would be so fun to have her come out and run it with me, but knowing there was no way it would ever work out. Her response, I totally want to do this, lets make it happen!!! Fast forward to January, and it totally happened! I am SO glad she got to come out and we were able to do this together! Such a great experience!
So the race started on Friday, Jan 4 (which happened to be Drews birthday, nothing like see ya later hun, you have fun with 4 boys (Jenni was able to bring Parker) while I leave you for the weekend, and oh ya, have a happy birthday)! We were in van 2 so we headed to the first exchange around 10:00 that morning.

Here is a map of the course...
McKenzie started off our van with the first leg. Here she is exchanging with Matt.
 Next Jenni exchanged with McKenzie
Jenni and I before Jenni's first leg

Coming in after my first run.

Our van finished our first legs around 10:00 pm. We got something to eat, then headed to the next major exchange point to get some rest. We slept (or at least tried to rest) until about 2:00am, when we started our 2nd legs.

Getting set for my last run!
Luke was the last runner. The whole team met him just before the finish line and we all ran in together. He we are as we just crossed! We finished on Saturday Evening around 6pm.

Team TBD
Jenni and I at the finish line in Key West

I am so glad I got to do this! During my second leg, I was able to run at sunrise. I was running somewhere along the keys, with ocean on either side of me as the sun was coming up. It was beautiful. I tried snapping a picture as I ran, this is what I got, ha! It really was so neat though and something I won't forget!
