Derby Festivities

We have lots of fun festivities going on here with Derby only a week away. Last weekend we went to Thunder! (For those of you that don't know what this is, it is a huge fireworks show, they say the largest in North America, that the city puts on every year to kick off Derby. They shoot the fireworks off barges that are on the river. There are thousands of people camped out all over the waterfront). This year was great. We couldn't have asked for better weather, and the show was simply amazing.Watching the Air Show that they have going on all afternoon before the fireworks beginTanner and Gavin Staying busy by playing with the phonesWe had some friends that went down early in the morning to steak out a spot. They got a great spot and were nice enough save places for us!

Last night we went to the balloon glimmer. Again this is right on the river front and was so much fun. Watching them all light up!This is what the dads do to the kids when we aren't watching!

Tanner's Turn

Well Tanner decided it was his turn to experience what it is like to get stitches. That's right, we made another visit to the ER. Actually we went to the nearest instacare, but our little buddy had to get 8 stitches. It all happened Friday morning. I was on a cleaning spree and was determined to get my house spotless. The kids were playing and I was vacuuming away. At some point Tanner came up from behind me and I didn't know he was there. I pulled the vacuum back and the vacuum handle whacked him. I could feel that it hit him hard and turn around and he was flat on his back. On his little eyebrow there was immediately a pool of blood. Poor little guy was crying and so sad. I couldn't get a hold of Drew, so I ran down to the Smith's house. Josh happened to be home so he looked at it and said that it needed stitches. So I left Mason with the Smiths and took Tanner to the immediate care and we waited to see the Doctor. At this point Tanner is doing great. He cried right after it happened, but was fine after that. In fact in the waiting room he was running around laughing and having a great time. It didn't really bleed much either so that was nice. After seeing the doctor he was a little apprehensive about doing the stitches there because Tanner was so little and getting him to hold still was going to be tricky. He said that Kosairs (the children's hospital) would be better equipped to do this, but he would try and if it was looking like it would be to hard, he would send me there. Then the fun began (actually it was awful). They had to strap the little guy into a baby papoose and had two nurses holding his head. He was hysterical by now. He didn't know what was going on and they were stick needles in his head. I sat there and held his hands and tried to calm him the whole time. He seemed to do a little better when he could hear my voice. After what seemed like FOREVER, the doctor finished. It broke my heart to have to have him strapped down and screaming. After I just sat and held him and he just cuddled with me. We came home and he took a nap and he hasn't missed a beat since. We have to get the stitches out in 5 days, and I think I will send Drew to go do that. I keep telling him that he is lucky he missed out on this one. Here are a few picture I snapped right before. Sorry they are not that great, they are the best I could do at the moment. After getting the stitches! Lets hope this doesn't leave a horrable scar.
These trips to the ER are becoming way to frequent. Lets hope we don't have to go there for a long long time!

Easter Festivities

We had such a fun Easter Holiday. A week ago, Masons friend Conner invited him to his preschool for their big Easter Extravaganza. It was really fun and Mason LOVED it. They had fun crafts, the Easter Bunny was there, and also had a big Easter Egg Hunt.

Thanks Conner Buddy!!Tanner was a little unsure about the Bunny
Mason found the Easter Bunny again outside! (He on the other hand was not afraid of the Bunny)

This last weekend was also full of fun. We dyed Easter and the boys had fun getting into their Easter baskets!Yes, the Easter Bunny found a brand new pair of goggles for Mason (Spiderman ones){Pictures After Church}These Boys are getting very difficult to photograph. I can't ever get them looking at the camera at the same time.Mason Parker and Abby after Church!!On Sunday Evening we went over to our friends house, the Broadbents and had an egg Hunt for the kids! Here they all are with their baskets after the hunt! (All 8 boys!)

Mason's first Pet

So a couple of weeks ago Mason learned about being thankful for fish in his Primary Class. His teacher then gave each of the kids a real fish!! Mason was beyond excited. It was quiet the scene at church with all these sunbeam kids walking around with a fish. Well we came home and within an hour of being home the fish went belly up. I am not sure what we did wrong, I thought it would last at least a day, but not so. Mason of course was very upset. We tried to convince him that we needed to flush him down the toilet, but he insisted that we bury him outside. Luckily Grandpa Virgil was here and he took Mason outside and they took care of it! So in one short day Mason learned about both fish and death! The proud owner of a new fish (Caudie as he named him)
