Derby Festivities

So I am a little behind with blogging, so bare with me as we back track a month. To kick of the Derby time here, they have all sorts of fun events around town. Here are some pictures from a few of them.

Thunder Over Louisville is the official opening ceremonies for the two fun-filled weeks of the Kentucky Derby Festival. It is also the nation's largest annual fireworks show. It is rated as one of the top 100 events in North America, and more than 500,000 people attend each year!

(I did not take these first two pictures)

It really is amazing to watch!
This is another event we went to, The Balloon Glimmer!! The kids love seeing all the balloons light up, so much fun!
The Girls!!

For the Derby we got together with some friends and had a little Derby Party. We had all the traditional derby foods (Kentucky hot browns, fried green tomatoes, derby pie, and virgin mint Juleps). It was fun to watch and cheer on our favorite horses.
One of my friends had fun crafts for the kids. She made these darling stick horses for all the kids to have races with. I know, so cute, thanks Becky!!
