Mason has had quiet the last few weeks. On January 19th he had to go back in and have tubes put back into his ears. Last September he had them taken out because they had been in for 2 years and they never fell out. So after we had them out he had a couple of infections and over Christmas break started the "What, What" like he was having a hard time hearing. After taking him in to the ENT for a follow up, the doctor said we definitely need to get tubes back in, and lets take the adenoids out as well. The surgery went well and after a couple of days of recovery he was right back at it being his happy self.
Here he is right before Surgery. He so did not what to do this, but was so brave!
So fast forward exactly one week later. January 26, we woke up to snow and so of course they cancel school for the day! By 9:00am it looked liked the roads were going to be fine so the boys and I headed out to the gym. I knew we had to get out of the house or else it was going to be a long day, after being inside most of the last week. So off we went. I enjoyed a yoga class and the boys had fun in the play center. A couple of their good friends, Connor and Jackson also happened to be there, so they were extra happy. After the gym, their mom, Becky and I decided to take all the kids to Puzzles Fun Dome to let the kids play and get some energy out on all the blow up slides and such. The kids played and played and had a great time and we were about to wrap things up and go get some lunch when the incident happened! I can't even explain very well what happened, but Mason ended up running into a mesh fence and tipping over this huge music like stand that fell right on his head (the corner of it busting right through the side of his head). He starts crying immediately and I turn around to see what is wrong I go over to hug him and we realize blood is pouring from his head. I am frantic and carry him into the bathroom, blood running everywhere trying to get it cleaned up. Becky gathers the other kids and comes into help. A couple of other people are there and after seeing this hole in his head they tell me I need to take him to The ER. Seriously! This is trip #3 to the ER for Mason! So Becky takes Tanner and Mason and I speed over to Kosairs. So it was a long afternoon in the ER and Mason ended up with 2 staples in his head. He was so brave the entire time and the Doctor said he was so great while getting the numbing shots and staples. I didn't get any shots before the staples, but here is some after.
Here he is after it is all done! Glad that it was over!(sorry can't get the picture to turn!)
Right after the Doctor put the staples in
Later that night
The next day
He has to have the staples in for one week, then we can have them taken out. I just hope he doesn't have a horrible scar! And I told Mason NO more trips to the hospital for a long long time! He totally agreed!
